THAMES VALLEY
FLY DRESSERS
BRANCH OF FLY DRESSERS GUILD
This was day when the weather had not read the forecast. It was supposed to be cloudy and moderate wind when we arrived but it was lashing it down. Undeterred we spread out along the beat and soon had fish to the bank. This was day for the beaded nymph. One participant opted for an egg fly - I did notice it was raining more heavily around him - even Skues would have turned in his grave. We had several nice grayling to the bank by the lunch break. Straight after lunch a front went through and left us drenched and the river coloured up a little. Bright flies were the killers in the afternoon and the theme changed. The morning was about quality fish the afternoon about quantity of fish with lots of small fish caught. We ended the day with over 100 fish brought to the bank and in spite of the weather a good day of sport was enjoyed.
