FLY DRESSERS
BRANCH OF FLY DRESSERS GUILD
The day started very wet and cold.We were missing our breakfast chef from the previous trip,no bacon butty’s this time.
All donned water proof gear and some waders to keep out the torrential rain out ,which lasted until just before lunch.
The river was the ideal depth and relative clear of weeds not so much a problem as the trip in October.
Despite the rain all participants had an enjoyable morning catching and landing fish. Breaking for lunch at 12.30.
During the afternoon the weather improved and once more all participants experienced good catches all along the beats.
In all 86 fish were caught 95% Grayling . The Grayling were of a good size with a few fingerlings.
Methods used mainly nymphing with the exception of Roger who used mostly dry flies.
Some of the flies used were Dark Coloured Shrimp,Terry’s Terror, Red Tag,Silver Headed Nymph,Beaded Nymph,Klinkhammer,Sedge,Gold Headed Hares Ear,Grayling Bug in a Posh Frock.
Fishing finished at 16.00
