BRANCH OF FLY DRESSERS GUILD

Unfortunately we were one short on numbers for this trip. Peter’s mate Adrian is having problems with the DVLA and is off the road for a while.
So there we were, John A, John W, Peter M and Richard B.
Richard, ‘I’ve never done this before’ Bird drew first blood. In fact I think he must have a telescopic rod as he was set up and raring to go while the rest were all still yakking. It only took him a cast or two to be taking a very nice Test Brownie out of the car park. By the look on his face he could of gone home then and he’s still have had a perfect day on the river. As it was his quick start slowed down a bit during the morning and accelerated through the afternoon putting him well into double figures including his first ever Grayling by the end of play.
Once more there were plenty of fish in evidence but again the bulk of the catch were trout possibly including a few Sea Trout.
All flies were working – Pennell's, Brassies, Hare’s Ears plus the latest ice dubbed sparkly bugs. Thanks to the detective work done by David Ord I took 4 very nice fish off the top with my Indispensable Tups.
4 guys 40 plus fish. Great fishing, good weather and good company. It doesn’t get much better than that!
John Watkins.
