Superb Salmon Fishing on River Cassley

The first three days were dull; no water in the river so no fish. Just sleet and hail showers that did not really wet the ground.

We had a rain on Wednesday night and a 4ft spate on Thursday am. That brought the Salmon up the river from the Kyle of Sutherland estuary.

I had a bonanza - catching 9 Salmon in the 10lb to 12 lb size over two days. They were sparklingly fresh silver fish.

The other group of three rods caught 15 and lost 6 - mostly on the Friday.

By Saturday pm the spate had run off and the fishing stopped. What a pity the Victorians had not dammed a loch higher up the Glen to hold back some of the surplus water.
