Grayling Test 30th December 2020
The 4 of us convened at 8.30 outside the Wine shop and made our way down to the river. The track down is in much better condition than on previous trips. However the the parking by the hut was very soft and vehicles had to park alongside the track.
The weather in the morning was quite barmy with rain threatening clouds overhead. The river Test was quite high and fast flowing. We split up along the beats. Fishing was by nymph of various patterns there were a small number of rises, but mainly the Grayling were down deep. The morning session was hard work with limited success. Lunch was taken at 12.30.
The afternoon session was slightly more productive and the weather remind kind with only one shower all day. Fishing finished 3.45 PM
Number of fish caught around 20 including one rainbow trout. Not as productive as previous years.
